Delete your account
Last updated: 2026-08-26
You can permanently delete your ZeniCash account and the data we hold for you at any time. You can also erase your data and keep the account. This page describes all three paths: erasing your data from inside the app, deleting the account from inside the app (the fastest), and, if you have already uninstalled, by email.
1. Delete from inside the app (recommended)
- Open ZeniCash.
- Go to Settings → Cloud Sync.
- Tap Delete account (at the bottom of the section).
- Confirm in the dialog. If the app asks you to sign in again, that is a Google security check — sign in with the same account.
This is the fastest path. The deletion happens immediately and you remain in control of your data until you confirm the final dialog.
2. Delete your data without deleting your account
Deleting your data and closing your account are separate things, and you can do the first without the second. Two controls inside ZeniCash do it, and both take effect immediately — no request, no waiting.
To erase everything held in the cloud, keeping the app and your account:
- Open ZeniCash.
- Go to Settings → Cloud Sync.
- Tap Clear cloud data and confirm.
Every record ZeniCash had stored for you in the cloud is deleted: transactions, accounts, invoices, budgets, categories, projects, entities, exchange rates and the sync settings. Your sign-in stays, and the book on the device you did it from is untouched — that copy is what you keep. If you are in a shared space the control is unavailable, because that cloud data belongs to every member and not only to you; leave the space first and it comes back.
To erase everything on the device as well:
- Go to Settings → Advanced.
- Tap Reset data and confirm.
The app returns to the state of a fresh install. Your account still exists and you stay signed in.
Both are irreversible. Export your records first from Settings → Export if you want to keep a copy. What Firebase's own encrypted backups retain, and for how long, is described in Section 5 below and applies here too.
3. Delete by email (if you've uninstalled)
If you no longer have the app installed and cannot sign in to perform the in-app deletion, send an email from the email address associated with your account to:
Subject: Delete my ZeniCash account. We verify the request
comes from the account holder by replying to the same email address,
then proceed with the deletion. We complete deletion requests within
7 working days.
4. What gets deleted
- Your Firebase Authentication identity (the sign-in record).
- Your Cloud Firestore data — every transaction, account, invoice, budget and category you synced to the cloud under your user namespace.
- The local SQLite database on the device you trigger the in-app deletion from. On your other devices the app detects that the account no longer exists and shows a dialog with two choices — Keep (the data stays on that device, with sync off) or Delete. The local copy on another device is removed only if you explicitly choose Delete on that device; remote wiping of a phone that is no longer in your hands cannot be guaranteed.
5. What gets retained, and for how long
- Encrypted infrastructure backups kept by Firebase / Google may retain a copy for up to 30 days before they age out automatically. We do not have routine access to these backups; they exist purely for Google's disaster-recovery purposes.
- Subscription history held by Google Play (Android) or Apple (iOS) is outside our control and is governed by their respective privacy policies. The store will retain billing records for the period required by tax law in your jurisdiction.
6. Important — this is irreversible
Once your account is deleted there is no way for us to recover it. If you want to keep a record of your data first, export it from Settings → Export while you still have access.
