Bank accounts, cards and cash — overdrafts and limits
Free · up to 3 accounts (unlimited on Premium)
An account is anywhere money sits: a bank, a card, the cash in a drawer, a savings pot. Each one has its own currency, an opening balance, and — where it applies — an authorised overdraft or a credit limit the app watches for you.
Creating an account
- Menu › Accounts › +.
- Give it a name, choose the type (bank, cash, card…) and the currency.
- If it already had money, enter the opening balance and the date it refers to.
- Optionally: an authorised overdraft or a credit limit, and an alert threshold.
The Professional switch marks an account as the business's. In Business only mode it is on and cannot be turned off; in Personal only it does not appear.
Naming
Short names read better everywhere the account is listed — in the dashboard tiles, in the movement form, in reports and in the accountant package. "Bank €", "Travel card", "Cash" beat "First National Bank current account in euros".
Overdraft and limits
An account with an authorised overdraft can go below zero without alarm; the dashboard bell and the cash-flow forecast use the limit to tell a normal negative from a real one. A card's credit limit works the same way, and an alert fires at the threshold you set.
The same name twice
Two accounts may share a name: two of your own in different banks or currencies, or — in a shared space — one per person. They stay separate because an account is identified by its own code, never by its name; renaming an account never loses it. Since version 1.5.0 the app warns when a name already exists on the phone and asks whether to save anyway. It never blocks.
Balances
The dashboard shows the balance of every account, converted to the default currency for the total — at the automatic rate (Premium) or at the rate you set by hand, which always wins. Tap the figure at the top to switch between the total and one account.
Questions
- How many accounts on the free plan?
- Three. Premium removes the limit.
- Can two accounts have the same name?
- Yes — two of your own in different banks, or one per person in a shared space. An account is identified by its own code, never by its name, so they stay separate. Saving a name already used on the phone only warns and asks to confirm.
- What is the wallet the app starts with?
- A cash account in the default currency, created on install. Rename it, change its currency while it is still empty, or leave it — it is an ordinary account.
